The K.R.L. Lab is a research space dedicated to applied economics and data science. Based at U of T and led by me, the lab brings together undergraduate and graduate researchers to work on real-world projects.
Our mission is to create a collaborative environment where students don’t just contribute to research but they learn how to ask meaningful questions, analyze data critically, and understand the social and economic impact of evidence-based policy by working on an existing project.
The lab emphasizes mentorship, curiosity, and inclusive research practices. Projects in the lab span topics such as applied ML, household finance, inequality, gender issues, and big data applications in economics.
What students gain:
Hands-on research experience
Data analysis and coding skills
Exposure to real research questions in economics
One-on-one mentorship and guided training
Opportunities to present findings and contribute to publications
We are especially interested in working with students (graduate and undergraduate) who are intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and excited to grow as researchers — regardless of prior experience.
